SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) is introducing a tailored learning experience that embeds industrial exposure in the direction of talent discovery and development.

Moving in that direction, UCTS and Penang-based Keysight Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Aug 15.

Leading this motion in Penang was UCTS vice-chancellor Prof Dato Dr Abdul Hakim Juri while Angela Cheong represented Keysight Technologies.

The university said in a press statement here yesterday that Keysight Technologies is the world’s leading electronic measurement company with over 77 years of test and measurement expertise.

“Today, Keysight is transforming the measurement experience through innovations in wireless, modular, and software solutions. Keysight delivers solutions in wireless communications, aerospace and defence and semiconductor markets with world-class platforms, software and consistent measurement science.

“In Malaysia, Keysight has had a 44-year presence and is a key player in the country’s Electronics and Electrical (E&E) industry landscape.” As a technology leader, Keysight recognises the importance of nurturing the right talent to push back the frontiers of technology and spur growth – for Keysight and the country.

“This platform sets the stage for joint Talent Development for UCTS students, particularly for Electronics and Electrical Engineering and Technology students to be trained or exposed to technical know-how of challenging yet innovative measurement and testing methodology and technology.

“Besides, specific tailor-made industrial based placement programmes and structured training schedules with Keysight Technologies Malaysia in Penang will be made available to UCTS students starting from 2017 onwards,” the statement said.
